Why does Zumi get different IR readings in the same spot?

Zumi's IR sensors do not measure distance, but the amount of light detected from the surrounding area. Each IR emitter and receiver will vary in strength and sensitivity due to manufacturing. Sometimes they will have very similar values and other times they will have very different readings. The sensors can also be affected by sunlight or other lighting in the room.
