Why isn't my CoDrone EDU battery charging?

Updated by Robolink Support

If you’ve connected a battery to the multi-charger and the LED light doesn’t turn on, or the battery isn't charging even after extended time on the charger, follow the steps below to identify the issue.

Step 1: Check Charger Power & Connection

  1. Insert the batteries into the multi-charger.
  2. Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable (not the batteries) on the multi-charger.
  3. Make sure you're using a USB port that supplies enough power:
    • 1 battery: minimum 5V / 1A
    • 2 batteries: minimum 5V / 2A

Once you plug the charger back in, the red LED lights should turn on. If the LED lights still do not turn on when a battery is inserted, then it might indicate the multi-charger itself is faulty. Proceed to Step 2 to test the multi-charger.

Step 2: Test the Multi-Charger

  1. Insert a working, discharged battery (≤50%) into each port of the suspected charger.
  2. Check if the red LED turns on for either port.

If the LED does not turn on, leave the battery in the port for a full 60 minutes, even if the LED is off. After 60 minutes, insert the battery into the drone and check the charge. If the battery has not charged, the multi-charger port is likely faulty.

Step 3: Test the Battery

If the LED does turn on, but the battery still won’t charge, the issue may be with the battery itself.

  1. Insert the battery into a known working multi-charger for 60 minutes.
  2. If no light appears, try resetting the charger by disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable.
  3. After charging, insert the battery into a drone and check the level on either your controller or Blockly / Python for Robolink

If the battery does not reach 100%, then the battery might be damaged. Try to gently shake the battery in your hand and listen for any rattling. If you hear loose internal parts shaking around, then that indicates there is physical damage. Please DO NOT USE any damaged batteries and dispose of them properly and safely. If you are in need to replace your broken batteries, you can place your order here.
